Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ecclesiastes 1-3, 2 Corinthians 9:1-15

MESSAGE:

We will be considering this topic in light of its commonest synonym which is laziness or idleness. A sluggard is a lazy fellow who knows what to be done but willingly dodges it even if that endeavour will give him a measure of progress; he just doesn’t like to work. A Christian teenager who has this trait should check himself because he or she didn’t inherit such from Jesus. Jesus said in John 9:4:

“I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”

Do you know that a successful man does daily, what a failure will do once in a while? The most successful man and the poorest man in the world have equal time and have the power to choose what they do with it which will later show in their results/achievements. The reality of today is that not every hardworking person becomes successful but I can tell you that every successful person is definitely hardworking.

My child, if you’re lazy, you’d better change now. Do whatever it takes to work hard so that when your mates are flourishing tomorrow, you won’t count regrets wishing you had done better.

KEY POINT:

Success is a cumulative effect of diligence.

HYMNS: I’m Pressing On The Upward Way

  1. I’m pressing on
    the upward way,
    New heights I’m gaining
    every day;
    Still praying as I onward bound,
    “Lord, plant my feet
    on higher ground”.

CHORUS
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith on heaven’s table-land;
Where love and joy
and light abound,
Lord, plant my feet
on higher ground.

  1. My heart has no desire to stay,
    Where doubts arise
    and fears dismay;
    Though some may dwell
    where these abound,
    My constant aim
    is higher ground.
  2. Beyond the mist
    I fain would rise,
    To rest beneath
    unclouded skies,
    Above earth’s turmoil
    peace is found
    By those who dwell
    on higher ground.
  3. I long to scale
    the utmost height,
    Though rough the way,
    and hard the fight,
    My song while climbing shall
    resound
    Lord lead me on
    to higher ground.
  4. Lord lead me up
    the mountain side,
    I dare not climb
    without my Guide;
    And heaven gained,
    I’ll gaze around,
    With grateful heart from higher
    ground.
