Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: John 10:1-42, 1 Chronicles 17-19

MESSAGE:

When you obey Gods instruction to abstain from all appearances of evil, you will be doing yourself a huge favour because you would have escaped a calamity that was intended to befall you. You may not know the great dangers that obedience will save you from until you see the suffering of someone who disobeyed.

There are many young preachers, tongue-talking and demon-chasing, who are careless about how their relationship with the opposite sex is subtly evolving into sin. Initially, it began with constant communication, then from handshakes to holding of hands, then from a harmless side hug to bear hugs until they fell into the sin of fornication.

One of Peter’s greatest mistakes that encouraged his denial of Jesus Christ was that he warmed himself at the fire in the palace of the High Priest. He got too comfortable in a non-spiritual environment. Don’t get too comfortable as to lock yourself up in a room with a member of the opposite sex, for whatever reason. Obey instructions and promptings from the Holy Spirit so that you will not fall short of the grace of God upon your life.

KEY POINT

Let him that thinks he stands be careful lest he falls (1 Corinthians 10:12).

HYMN: STAND UP, STAND UP FOR JESUS

  1. Stand up! stand up for Jesus
    Ye soldiers of the cross!
    Lift high His royal banner;
    It must not suffer loss.
    From vict’ry unto vict’ry
    His army shall He lead,
    Till every foe is vanquished,
    And Christ is Lord indeed.
  2. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    the trumpet call obey;
    Forth to the mighty conflict,
    In this His glorious day;
    Ye that are men now serve Him
    against unnumbered foes;
    let courage rise with danger,
    and strength to strength oppose.
  3. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    stand in his strength alone;
    The arm of flesh will fail you,
    Ye dare not trust your own:
    put on the gospel armour,
    And watching unto prayer;
    where duty calls, or danger,
    be never wanting there.
  4. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    The strife will not be long;
    this day the noise of battle,
    the next the victor’s song:
    to him that overcometh
    A crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of glory
    shall reign eternally.
