READ: Nehemiah 2:18-20

  1. Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.
  2. But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?
  3. Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: John 12:1-50, 2 Chronicles 1-3

MESSAGE:

Anyone who wants to build anything meaningful in life must be ready for serious opposition. This can come through discouragers who don’t believe that anything good can come out of you or enemies who just want your potential bottled up for life. As recorded in our Bible reading, Nehemiah determined to rebuild the destroyed city of Jerusalem but then, he was faced with opposition. If you read through the book of Nehemiah, you will realize that Nehemiah’s strength was hidden in his prayer life. He prayed all through to the God who gave him the vision to build and he was strengthened (Nehemiah 4:1-4 ).

Dear child, when God puts an idea in your heart, first pray about it fervently. Thereafter, seek godly counsel from a spiritual elder and then pursue it. If you have a feeling or leading to build your country in any area such as politics, business, technology or education in the future, start praying about it now and prepare yourself by acquiring knowledge in those areas.

KEY POINT:

Pray and prepare, so that you can fulfill God’s purpose for your life.

HYMN: Pass Me Not A Gentle Saviour

  1. Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,
    Hear my humble cry,
    While on others Thou art calling,
    Do not pass me by.

CHORUS
Saviour, Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

  1. Let me at Thy throne of mercy
    Find a sweet relief;
    Kneeling there in deep contrition,
    Help my unbelief.
  2. Trusting only in Thy merit,
    Would I seek Thy face;
    Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
    Save me by Thy grace.
  3. Thou the Spring of all my comfort,
    More than life to me,
    Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
    Whom in heaven but Thee?
